Dolores Shapiro, Ph.D., RN, is a retired professor of nursing and anthropology whose research focused on Afro-Catholic religious groups in Brazil. She hails from the borough of the Bronx in New York City, where she was educated by the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and the Mothers of the Order of St. Ursula. In the 1970s Dolores worked as the Clinical Nurse Specialist on the inpatient unit of the Bernalillo County Mental Health Center in Albuquerque. Retirement drew her back to her second favorite state in the union, and she is honored to be a part of the Villa Therese mission and team.
